We are looking for a nice children's horse/pony. We are located in SW Montana where we ranch and raise livestock. We use our horses daily and are experienced riders; however, this horse is for our foster daughter that has had limited riding experience - she needs a confidence builder. Buckskin

I am looking for a foal, weanling, or yearling buckskin colored quarter horse stallion. I would like for this colt to have black legs. He can have white on his legs or face. Only pure bred quarter horses, no grades please. In the pedigree I would like to have Doc Bar, Smart Little Lena, or Peppy San Badger. I don't want a pleasure prospect, but I do want a Barrel Racing, Teampenning, and pole bending prospect.

We are looking for horses to be donated to our program for use the rest of their useful lives. We cannot be a retirement home for lame, blind, unsound horses etc. Horses work usually May through mid-September, then take a nice winter vacation in our 80 acre hay pasture. I feed 20-30lbs per day of grass hay, with alfalfa for those who need it. Horses get grain on the days they work.
In the summer horses come into the barn in the morning and each get their own stall with breakfast, and grain. They have free choice grass hay on days they work. On weekdays they work camp (an arena lesson and a trail ride in the morning) then may give an evening trail ride. Then they are back out to pasture to relax. All of our pastures have good trees for shade and shelter. On weekends, they work up to 8 hours on the trail, but a usually day consists of about four or less.
Saddle Mountain Guest Ranch has a no-slaughter retirement policy. All of our horses either find private-party retirement homes, or are donated to Cat Tales zoological park. check out our webpage at www.saddlemtnranch.org
